Penguins
It’s home to our favorite swimming bird the penguin. I got the see these little guys a little ways outside of town.
Skuas
And it’s home to the birds we hate the most. Skuas. They are scavenger who like to dive bomb McMurdo citizens who have food. They will attack anyone holding something that looks like a galley tray or plate.
Getting to Antarctica
To get to McMurdo Station in Antarctica you fly from the United States to New Zealand. Once in New Zealand you jump on a LC-130 or a C-17 to get to the Ice.

The McMurdo Station is a United States Antarcticresearch center on the south tip of Ross Island, which is in the New Zealand-claimed Ross Dependency on the shore of McMurdo Sound in Antarctica. It is operated by the United States through the United States Antarctic Program, a branch of the National Science Foundation. The station is the largest community in Antarctica, capable of supporting up to 1,258 residents,[2] and serves as one of three United States Antarctic science facilities. All personnel and cargo going to or coming from Amundsen–Scott South Pole Station first pass through McMurdo.
