So I made it to Antarctica. Yes it’s cold but Parkas are warm. As a winter person I get my own room. The meals are quite good and very filling. I started work in the IT department today. The two guys I work with are great. It’s very dark and it messes with your head. You have to remind yourself sometimes that you just ate lunch and it’s only 1 pm when it completely dark out.

This is the C-17 we flew down on. Me on the flight deck of the C-17This was after we had landed. I took it from inside the bus. It was a bit chaotic and -40F so I didn’t want to get out to take it. They land in total darkness. Even the overhead lights in the trucks have to be taped over.My room. It’s a total mess after this picture but tonight’s project is to get it cleaned up and unpacked.
Lastly a rare treat. We had Auroras my first and second night here. They put out an alert over the radio to let people know. Everyone grabbed their cameras and went outside,
