Christchurch Adventures

I went to a few places while spending time in Christchurch.  Mostly I just relaxed and tried not to do much.  In between sleeping and napping I did a few things.

First I went to the Botanic Gardens in Christchurch.   It was a massive place filled with all kinds of different plants and flowers.   It went on and on and I had to give up as I was getting tired after a point and still had to hike back to my hotel.

Then on my last day here I went to the Antarctic Center and had a good time there learning what it’s like in Antarctica.  They had a storm room where the simulated a storm in Antarctica.  They also had huskies, penguins, a 4D theater, a Hagglund ride, and a lot more extremely good attractions that were great for all ages.  I would recommend this for anyone in the area.

Leaving Antarctica Update

Sorry for the delay in this update.  I made it back to New Zealand.  I’ll post up an update of what I’ve done here soon.  I’ll be in the US until February and then I’ll head back to the ice.

Travel Update

Just an update for anyone curious.  I am scheduled to leave Antarctica on December 10th.  I’ll be in New Zealand for a few weeks before heading back stateside.

So you might notice some missing things…

There was a major issue with the site and I had to have my webhost restore from a backup a few weeks ago.

I’ll reup what I can remember.  I know Thanksgiving is gone.  And the Observation Tube.

I’m taking steps to keep this from happening in the future.

Mobile Runway Support Facility

MRSF or Willy Field as known by most people is the ice runways where they land planes equipped with skids.  Wheeled planes land out a Phoenix Airfield.  On my way back from LDB we stopped by MRSF for a couple of quick pictures.  When I leave in December I’ll be flying out of here on a C-130.
