We had a cool mirage happen the other day. It created what looked like an Ice wall at the base of Antarctica. In reality there is not one there. It’s just a gentle slope normally going off the ice shelf. For more information on the mirage see here. Fata Morgana Wikipedia
I got invited to go help flag the routes over the sea ice to various locations that Grantees (Scientist) need to go to once Main Body gets here. We set about 6 miles of flags spaced 50 yards apart. They still have about 8 more miles to do just on that one route. Then he has more routes to do after that. After we finished up we got to swing by an iceberg and stand on top of it.
The Trivia Championship came back home. Suzy’s Minions took home the cup again. Best Team Ever.
Nothing overly interesting but I thought I’d make a quick post. We had snow fall and wind so I shot some video. Enjoy.
We had Auroras last night. The wouldn’t show up as well on my camera this time. so I shot some stars and other stuff.
Sorry for the sporadic updates as of late. We got the WinFly flight in and when that happens we loose access to Wifi. It has also been a bit boring around here. We got about 100 new people in on the flights and have been working toward getting all of them settled. I’ll try to update when I can but they will probably be done in batches.
We had to make a quick trip up to T-Site to fix a few things. This is below where the Crater Hill pictures were taken.
I got to go visit the fuel barn where all the hard working Fuelies work to keep everything fueled. From the generators that power the town to the heaters in some buildings. They also make sue we can fill up our vehicles.
We didn’t get any fresh fruit on the last flight so any fruit had to be hand carried by people coming down. This was the NOC’s haul from our new PC Techs. I had an orange. It was possibly the best orange I have ever had.
Just shot some pictures and video on my day off. Since we are still in Winter there are not many places we can go without a work reason and lots of equipment. Once we get into summer I’ll try to take some pictures outside of town.
